The Children’s Ministry program at New Hope is focused on children from birth through 5th grade and their families. Every activity we offer for children and families is designed to strengthen their faith and/or provide ways for them to show God’s love to others.
We believe that discipleship formation begins during these early years, and since worship is a key element of discipleship, children worship alongside their families each Sunday. Our “Amazing God Singers” is our children’s choir open to children in 2nd-5th grade. The group has fun learning music which is sung in worship approximately once a quarter. At the back of the sanctuary we have “worship binders” with materials designed to engage children with worship in their own way. For our youngest children (infants-preschool) we also have a nursery available during both worship services and the discipleship hour.
Strengthening discipleship is what the “Sunday School” hour is all about. Our classes meet in the children’s wing downstairs. The PreK-2nd graders all hear the same story but engage with the themes in different, age appropriate ways (crafts, games, drama, etc.). The 3rd-5th grade class uses a “tween” curriculum that includes a video piece and they often incorporate discussion of current events to help them making stronger connections between faith and everyday life.
Our annual Vacation Bible School is an event that happens in the evenings for one week (Sun-Thurs) in June. It is open to everyone in the community for FREE and we have classes for toddlers-entering 5th grade. Details for this year’s program can be found in the “Ministry Events” page under the “Events and Activities” tab.
We have activities scheduled throughout the year for children and families to engage in their faith, show God’s love and connect with one another, so check out our calendar of events for what’s coming up next!
