Youth Ministry at New Hope is all about making disciples and showing God’s love. We value the participation and leadership of the youth and on Sunday mornings during worship they can frequently be found serving as Acolytes, Greeters, Ushers, Liturgists, Special Music, Children’s Ministry Helpers, and more.

Beginning in 6th grade we provide a Confirmation class for students that lasts the whole school year. In this small group format the students are prepared to make a public profession of faith – to claim faith on their own, apart from their parents. They meet in the youth area, below the sanctuary, during the Discipleship Hour (9:45-10:45am).

Students in 7th-12th grade spend their time engaged in lively discussion that connects faith with life. Each week is a little different, and once a month (typically the 4th Sunday) they meet in the kitchen to cook a meal that is delivered to the Drop In Center of Epworth Children and Family Ministries provides services to youth in need.

Outside of these Sunday morning experiences, students have the opportunity to participate in field trips once a month (typically the 1st Sunday) following worship. We alternate “fun and fellowship” type field trips (roller skating, bowling, zoo, City Museum, etc.) with “mission and service” type field trips (Open Door Animal Sanctuary, Nursing Home visits, outdoor clean up, etc.).

We also have small groups that meet on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30pm at the church. Each group does its own thing to grow its members in faith. The common thread for all of the groups is that they are building relationships and are focused on helping the youth understand their identity as Christians. Youth Wednesday Small Groups currently meet from 6:30-7:30 in the following locations:

Girls 6th-7th grade * Preschool Office

Girls 8th-10th grade * Youth Area

Boys 6th-8th grade * Youth Area/Peace Palace

 Adulting 101: Girls * 9th-12th grade & College Age * FHA

Adulting 101: Guys * 9th-12th grade & College Age * FHB

“The Lounge”

Open from 6-8pm in Fellowship Hall C, “The Lounge” is supervised by a volunteer while additional volunteers staff the snack bar in the kitchen. A variety of snack items and drinks will be available for purchase. We will have games, activities and sometimes crafts available for all ages to enjoy.

Each summer the youth are given opportunities to be in mission somewhere outside of our community. Most years we are able to offer two separate week long mission trips. Please see the event calendar for the current  year’s offerings.
