Frequently Asked Questions

What do United Methodists believe?

As a part of the worldwide United Methodist Church family, we follow a set of Bible-based, God inspired beliefs set forth by our denomination. To learn more about our beliefs, CLICK HERE.

Where should I park? Is there handicapped parking available?

We have visitor parking and handicap parking directly in front of the main entrance. Feel free to use these spots or any other spot that calls out to you.

What should I expect?

When you arrive there will be a soemone to greet you at the door. If you have any questions, please ask.

We are intentional in designing two very distinct styles of worship services. Our early service includes traditional hymnal music and choir pieces while our later service includes music by an extremely talented contemporary band. Try them both – see which helps you connect with God more strongly!

What should I wear?

Just about anything. We take God very seriously, but we are pretty open to a wide variety of attire. You will see anything from suit and tie and fancy dress to shorts and t-shirts with sandals. Whatever is most naturally “you” is what we believe God wants to see.

Is there Sunday School?

You will find a class in fellowship hall on between services Sunday mornings at 9:15. Please ask a greeter if you need help finding the class.

Is there Children's Church or a Nursery?

Free Childcare is available during both Worship Services (as well as during our “Discipleship Hour”) for preschool aged children. Children are always welcome in Worship. In fact, there are activity kits at the back of the church for kids.  Ask  greeter or another kid where you can find one.

Is the church available for events (i.e., weddings, funerals, etc.)?

Yes, the facility is available for outside events. Please contact the church office for more information. You can find the phone number and email address at the bottom of this page.

How do I join the church?

If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact the office or pastor Michelle for more information.

Who We Are

Meet Our Staff/Pastor

Rev. Michelle Shoger

Pastor

Pastor Michelle has been at New Hope since 2006. She served as the Assistant Pastor, working primarily with children and youth, until the summer of 2023 when she switched gears and took on the role of the lead Pastor. Michelle enjoys being around the creativity and energy of young people but also appreciates visiting with those older than her and hearing about their life experiences. Some of her favorite places to go include the library, anywhere that serves decent coffee and local hiking trails. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from Simpson College before heading to Duke Divinity School where she earned her MDiv in ’05. Michelle has two teenage daughters who keep her on her toes and on the go. A verse that has guided Michelle’s philosophy on ministry is John 3:17, “Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
